Everyone loves to hear a good story. Whether it is a story in a book, movie, TV show, or conversation, a good story can intrigue and captivate almost anyone. So it should come as no surprise that storytelling is becoming a trend in video production as well. Companies are using storytelling in corporate videos, television advertising and even product videos.
The Power of Storytelling in Stats
Still not convinced? Here are some fascinating statistics that support the power of storytelling in marketing videos:
- In a 2017 article, Adweek notes that storytelling is helping brands sell more products, with examples ranging from hotel rooms (5% greater revenue with storytelling), to artwork, to wine, to eBay listings (64% higher bids with storytelling).
- Forbes indicates in a 2015 article that 92% of consumers want brands to make ads that “feel like a story”. In fact, Forbes suggests that there is ‘science’ behind the increasing impact of storytelling in marketing. The article argues that ‘facts’ only activate 2 parts of the brain, whereas a well-told story could stimulate 6 or more areas. How’s that for having an impact on your audience?
How do you incorporate storytelling in your corporate, brand or product videos? There are many different strategies, and I am going to detail some of these in upcoming posts. So stay tuned!
The Story of Amintro
Telling an interesting story is a big part of what we do here at MK video productions. Take a look at the Amintro video below that we recently completed for a start-up client. This video highlights the need for community like Amintro among ageing seniors. To tell the story of Amintro, we interviewed seniors and asked them describe to us how ageing affected their social engagement and circles, and how Amintro is vital to help them stay connected. The result is emotional and compelling.
